Do you have a MCE (Media Center Edition) computer? Have you ever setup, or tried to set up, a Microsoft MCE?
What a MCE computer basically allows you to do is to capture your TV shows like a Tivo or other DVR (Digital Video Recorder) and fast forward through commercials. Most of the commercial products, like Tivo, have monthly fees to use their online guides so that the device knows when your favorite shows will be broadcast.
If you are linux fan you probably have heard about MythTV. MythTV is a really cool MCE system that has a lot of power allowing you to watch all your programming on your home networked computers. However most computer based MCE's are often difficult to setup and can become frustrating to most consumers.
I recently saw this video about Linux MCE (direct link: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=2176025602905109829&hl=en) and all I can say is WOW! If you are considering setting up a MCE or Tivo of any kind you really need to watch this video!
Not only does the Linus MCE have Tivo capabilities is also integrates with many other home automation systems.
Did I mention you need to see the video? So click the damned link already!
