No Winner In The HD DVD War?

I recently saw this article (direct link: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/12/31/business/31dvd.html?_r=3&pagewanted=1&ref=technology&oref=slogin) about the High Definition DVD war and I have to disagree. I purchased a HD-DVD recently and it is awesome. I also suspect that the HD-DVD format will win the war because Sony usually is unable to compromise and they are always more expensive for technology that usually has no real benefit over it's competitors.

The article also tries to say that Blu-Ray is shipped inside Sony's PlayStation 3 video game console, but this is no big deal because DVD playback capability was also included in the PlayStation 2 model console.  Did you ever really watch DVD's from your PlayStation 2 game system?  That sucks!  The game controller may feel "right" playing video games, but controlling movies with a game controller is pure crap

BTW, Sony's PlayStation 3 console is selling about as well as Microsoft's latest operating system Vista…Poorly!

The only way Sony has a chance to make Blu-Ray a de-facto standard will be to get the Blu-Ray players under $200. While they are at it they also should get the PlayStation 3 console under $250 so it would also be cost competitive to the other game systems on the market.

We all know these price points will not happen and therefore HD-DVD will emerge the winner in the high definition DVD format wars.

Yeah, you read it right here on Male Muse.
