Ethernet Port and Web Browser in Audio Video Receiver
Has anyone compiled a list of entertainment system audio-video receivers that include a Ethernet port and a web browser that allow the control of the source and volume controls? I have found a few receivers that seem to do what I want such as: Yamaha RX-Z11 (+ $4,000) Onkyo TX-NR905 (+ $1,500) Denon AVR-4306 (+1,300) However, I don’t need anything this high end. If you know of a resource for web browser enabled receivers a link would be appreciated. Thanks.
HD-DVD vs. Blu-Ray Ver. 2.0
Oh crap.  I admit it, I picked the loosing team.  Crap.  You may have read in my article here that I purchased a HD-DVD player not long ago.  I'm sure you all heard as I did that Warner Brothers has gone Blu-Ray and a bunch of other studios seem to be ready to follow.  This will make Blu-Ray the most supported next generation DVD system as far as movie studios go. Confirmation for me was to a local Target this weekend. It sure didn't take them long to flip-flop.  What used to be a equal shelf space ratio HD-DVD to Blu-Ray has now greatly swayed in favor of...
Linux Only Hardware
We have all heard the arguments for Linux and comparisons to Microsoft's Operating Systems.  We have also heard the merits of Apple's OS/X Operating System, and it has even started to look very interesting for businesses with last years release of OS/X Leopard. What is not talked about is how in fact Linux is basically a Operating System that runs on Microsoft hardware. If you have been in the business long enough you should know what I mean.  The Intel x86 architecture has been tuned over the years to run Microsoft Windows.  It's a total monopoly.  Oh yeah, you...
Holy Shit! Gizmodo Wrote a Honest Article!
Holy Shit!  Gizmodo Wrote a Honest Article! Gizmodo sucks.  Did I say that out loud?  Yeah, I did.  Of course I also read Gizmodo , but they suck balls.  Their articles are always tainted the opinions of what seems to be a pre-puberty kids opinion of what is cool.  Their articles seldom have any real knowledgeable information or fair comparisons. That's why I was surprised to read this .  Hey Gizmodo leader dude, you better keep this guy on the payroll, if you have a payroll that is.  Gizmodo gives the term will work for Wii a whole new meaning. Anyway,...
Stop Making Half Page Articles Five Pages Long
You know what I would like to see go away in 2008? Web Zines that make you click “next” through five pages for an article that is maybe a half page long so they can up their banner impression count. Recently I saw a Digg that linked to a Time article about the 25 best something or other for 2007. They had you click through ten pages to see their lousy blah blah. In the end you felt ripped off. I clicked through all these pages for this crap? Probably most readers never heard of Time magazine. Well ok, the old folks do. It was a print magazine that is probably dying a miserable...

No Winner In The HD DVD War?
I recently saw this article (direct link: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/12/31/business/31dvd.html?_r=3&pagewanted=1&ref=technology&oref=slogin) about the High Definition DVD war and I have to disagree. I purchased a HD-DVD recently and it is awesome. I also suspect that the HD-DVD format will win the war because Sony usually is unable to compromise and they are always more expensive for technology that usually has no real benefit over it's competitors. The article also tries to say that Blu-Ray is shipped inside Sony's PlayStation 3 video game console, but this is no big deal...

How Not To Tow a Car
Watch some geniuses tow a car from a small snow bank. You’d think between five guys at least one might have a clue on where to attach a tow hook. These guys get my vote for Darwin awards candidates. See the video after the jump.
